Leon Bailey’s Aston Villa exit is finally complete after Olympiacos officially confirmed the permanent signing of the Jamaica international.

The Greek giants announced Bailey’s arrival on Thursday, bringing an end to a transfer saga which continued beyond the English deadline.

Read Aston Villa reported on Wednesday that Villa had given Bailey permission to complete a permanent Olympiacos move after the winger travelled to Athens for his medical.

The formalities have now been completed.

Leon Bailey Aston Villa exit finally completed

Olympiacos confirmed that Bailey joins them from Aston Villa after making 163 appearances, scoring 23 goals and providing 25 assists during his time in the Midlands.

The Greek club also highlighted his part in Villa’s 2025/26 Europa League triumph.

No transfer fee was disclosed in the official announcement.

Bailey’s departure finally gives Villa a permanent solution after Unai Emery’s side spent much of the summer attempting to move the 29-year-old on.

Hull City, Ajax, Sevilla and Saudi Arabian clubs were among the sides linked with Bailey at different stages, but none managed to complete a deal before the Premier League window shut.

That initially left his future unresolved, although overseas markets remained open. Villa were subsequently handed another opportunity to sanction Bailey’s departure before Olympiacos moved quickly to secure an agreement.

It brings Bailey’s five-year Villa spell to an end and removes one of the final outstanding issues from an extraordinary summer overhaul.

Emery has dramatically reshaped his squad, and Bailey can now begin the next stage of his career in Greece after Villa finally secured the permanent exit they had been pursuing.
