Santiago Beltrán reportedly scouted by Aston Villa and Manchester City

Santiago Beltrán has reportedly been watched by Aston Villa scouts, with Manchester City also monitoring the River Plate goalkeeper.

Argentine outlet El Intransigente claims both Premier League clubs have sent representatives to assess him. Sport Witness’s account of the reporting outlines the scouting interest and River’s plans to extend his contract.

The report does not establish that Villa have made a bid or opened negotiations.

Santiago Beltrán contract talks include proposed €100m clause

River are reportedly discussing an extension until December 2029, with Beltrán’s existing agreement running until December 2027.

The proposed deal could increase his release clause from approximately €21m to €100m. Those figures remain reported terms, rather than an officially announced agreement.

Journalist Sebastián Srur says negotiations are progressing positively. The immediate development to watch is whether River secure the goalkeeper’s signature.

The proposed clause should not be treated as an asking price or a fee Villa are prepared to pay.

What the goalkeeper link means for Aston Villa

Villa already have Zion Suzuki and Marco Bizot among their goalkeeping options.

Bizot’s recent back problem against Coventry has brought attention to that department. However, there is no established connection between his fitness and the Beltrán scouting reports.

Assessing another goalkeeper does not establish that Villa intend to replace either player. It also leaves open the question of whether their interest will advance beyond monitoring.

For now, the story concerns reported scouting activity and River’s contract negotiations. A Villa offer, an agreed transfer fee and a departure date have not been established.
