Kevin Viveros Senior Colombia Call-Up Could Boost Aston Villa Transfer Hopes

Aston Villa have been handed a potentially useful Kevin Viveros transfer development after the striker earned his first senior Colombia call-up.

Villa were among the Premier League clubs asking about the 26-year-old during the summer, according to Sport Witness, but ultimately moved for Nicolas Jackson instead.

Viveros has since continued scoring heavily for Athletico Paranaense and now leads the Brazilian top flight with 18 league goals.

Kevin Viveros call-up could help Aston Villa move

The Colombia breakthrough matters because international appearances can contribute towards the points required for a Governing Body Endorsement to play in England.

A call-up alone does not guarantee Viveros would qualify, but senior minutes would improve his position if Villa revive their interest.

Sport Witness previously reported that Villa and Sunderland had made enquiries over Viveros before Athletico raised their expectations following his prolific run.

The Brazilian club reportedly rejected offers worth around €20million during the summer and could now seek between €30m and €40m.

Villa’s wider January planning can be followed in our Aston Villa transfer news tracker, while recent scouting has also included Benfica winger Gianluca Prestianni.

There is no indication Villa have made a new offer, but Viveros’ form and international breakthrough make him a player worth monitoring ahead of January.
