Matty Cash is another Aston Villa player who puts up semi-regular Instagram posts for supporters, but this time he used his social media to wish Jack Grealish a happy birthday. Grealish turned 26 on Friday and Cash was one of many who sent his ex-teammate a message.
The right-back only played with Grealish for a season, having joined Villa from Nottingham Forest last summer, but the pair had a positive relationship on the pitch and may renew acquaintances if Cash gets called up to the England national team. Gareth Southgate has been monitoring his progress.
Cash has club matters to think about now, however, as Villa travel to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea on Saturday evening. The 24-year-old is expected to start as he’s played every minute of every Premier League game so far this season.
Cash has made 31 appearances across the board in his 12 months at Villa Park, notching two assists. He’s been reliable under Dean Smith and has flourished in his first Premier League campaign.
As for Grealish, he’s now a Manchester City player. But he was loved at Villa as the dozens of birthday messages show.
