Fans on social media say ‘brilliant’ Emiliano Buendia is a ‘fantastic’ forward

Aston Villa suffered a 1-0 defeat to Manchester United in Monday night’s FA Cup third round clash, but Emiliano Buendia was one player who could be pleased with his performance. The 25-year-old has been inconsistent in his debut season but showed at Old Trafford why Villa signed him.

No Villa player had more successful dribbles, no player registered more shots on target, no player made more tackles and no player had a better pass completion than Buendia, so he was deserving of the praise received by supporters on social media. The Argentine was given a player rating of 7/10 by Birmingham Live too.

Against Man Utd, Buendia played for 78 minutes, had 52 touches, won one aerial duel, completed 88.9% of his 27 passes, made three interceptions, had two shots with 50% hitting the target, made three tackles, blocked one shot, gave away one foul, had two successful dribbles and won one freekick.

The 25-year-old has made 19 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring one goal with three assists. Buendia has featured regularly despite his inconsistent form, but his performances against United will remind supporters and Steven Gerrard why he’s worth sticking with.
